§ 94-251.1.G. Parking on a bridge; highway; crossover.

  • (a)

    Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle:

    (1)

    Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel;

    (2)

    On any controlled access highway; or

    (3)

    In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers.

    (b)

    Any person convicted of violating this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than $100.00 and not more than $750.00 for each offense.

    (c)

    Authorized town officials and employees upon finding vehicles parked in violation of this section, shall be authorized and directed to enforce this subsection by ticketing or towing. Any vehicle parked in violation of this section shall be subject to an immediate tow without notice in accordance with division 7 of this article. The towing charges in each case shall be borne by the owner of the vehicle.
